Flexar is the premium gym management software boutique fitness owners should have had a decade ago. No transaction markup, no setup fees, no contract lock-in. This is the story of why it exists, and where it's going.
Hi. I'm Joel Miranda.
I've spent the last twenty years in boutique fitness. Ten of those as a gym owner across multiple brands. I've owned F45 studios, BFTs, and my own independent gym. Before that, as a coach, a manager, and a member. I've been on every side of the front desk this industry has, in every model this industry has tried.
The whole time, one thing has stayed consistent. The software we were using to run the gym wasn't good enough.
I've used every major platform on the market. As an owner, paying for it month after month. As a member, putting up with the booking flow and the broken app. Different brands, different marketing pages, but under the hood the same four problems kept showing up.
The interfaces were a mess. Too much screen real estate spent on features no boutique gym needs. Reports nested four menus deep. Members buried inside customer profiles inside contact records. Anyone who joined the staff had to spend three days learning where things lived.
The functionality fell short. Daily-rate billing that pretended to exist but bounced the moment a member changed plans mid-month. Suspensions that left holes in payment runs. Class scheduling and staff rostering living on different planets.
The software was slow. Properly slow. The kind that turns a five-minute admin job into a fifteen-minute one. Multiply that by every staff member, every shift, every week. By Friday, the team is exhausted.
And the fees. Every platform was clipping 1–3% on top of the payment processor's actual rate, and most gym owners didn't even know it was happening. The price on the website wasn't the real cost. It was the deposit on a much bigger bill.
And underneath all of it, the same brutal reality. The industry standard for a boutique gym owner-operator is an 80-hour week. The job is easy to love. It's deeply rewarding work, and most owners I know wouldn't trade it. But the volume of admin happening behind the walls of the studio is endless. And most of that admin doesn't make the gym better. It just keeps it running.
So I built Flexar.
Transparent on pricing. What you see is the entire monthly cost, with payment fees passed through at the processor's actual rate. Simple on the surface. Anyone can log in on day one and understand exactly what they're looking at, no training course, no manual. Fast on every screen, because the seconds add up. And functionally complete. Daily-rate billing, automated suspensions, staff rostering in the same calendar as classes, AI smart alerts, performance scoring, Meta ad attribution. Every feature a serious boutique gym actually needs.
We're building the most premium gym management software in the industry, without the enterprise price tag. The goal is to give you back the hours. Not all eighty. But enough of them that you can spend less time fighting your admin and more time coaching the members in front of you. Enough that managers can stop wrestling spreadsheets at midnight and actually run the gym. And we want members to walk into a studio where the technology is on their side, not in their way.
That's the whole point.
If we have to make a hard call, these are the lines we won't cross. Even when the maths would tell us otherwise.
The transaction fee you see on your statement is the rate you pay. We don't take a clip on top, ever. If we did, we'd be in the same business as the platforms we're trying to replace.
Month-to-month, always. If Flexar stops earning its place in your business, you should be able to leave at the end of the month without a clause buried somewhere.
Every feature is shaped with real gym owners in the loop. No exceptions. If we can't find an owner who'll use it, we don't ship it.
A platform that owners love but members tolerate doesn't survive. Every screen the member sees is designed to feel like the gym they're proud to be part of.
Flexar is headquartered in Australia. We chose to build here for one reason: the boutique fitness scene in Australia is one of the most sophisticated in the world, with thousands of independent gyms operating at a quality level the bigger global markets are still catching up to.
It's also a market where the entrenched gym management software has been slow to evolve. The owners we work with don't want to wait for a global incumbent to catch up. They want serious software, available now, that respects how they actually run their businesses.
From here, we're rolling out to New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States and the UAE. The platform is built for twenty-five languages and forty-plus countries on day one. We're playing for the long horizon.
